Spring offers many possibilities

Summer, with it's light and colours

season to walk in the hills on the signed

Autumn, the landscape takes on
it's warm colours and shades decidedly
picturesque. A rich season for wines,
gastronomy : restaurants, taverns and
farm inns which offer seasonal menus with
local produce plus the chance to search
for the best wines and oil products.
Winter, a season which , even
more so , invites the pleasures of the
palate , with its rich flavours of fine
pork and delicious first courses, gastronomy
an eternal pleasure. Plus at New Year
the restaurants and country inns open
for the classical New Years Eve dinner
and dance.

FORTS
AND CASTELS
The presence of the Malatestas in
the area is represented by a large
number of architectural military forts
and castles which can be still be
admired. |
The most notable is Castel Sismondo
in Rimini, built by Sismondo Malatesta
and the Montibello Fortress, Rocca
dei Guidi di Bagno, at Poggio
Berni the Macrosanti Palace
, and probably the most interesting
of this era is the Malatesta Fort,
which dominates the old town of Santarcangelo
and in Verruchio the Malatesta
Fort. built originally by the
Malatesta family.

FLAVOURS
In first place on the list of typical
Romagnolo dishes is the famous Piadina
( flat bread ) served with ham or
other cooked meats and wild salad
leaves or with Scquaquerone ( creamy
local cheese ) served together with
roast meats or boiled pork sausage
and beans. |
Try some of these first course dishes,
cappelletti or passatelli ( made with
eggs, bread crumbs and parmesan cheese
), ravioli with nettles, gnocchi,
strozzapreti and tagliatelli all made
by hand, as is the tradition of this
area.
Second course dishes to be tried are,
grilled meats, rabbit with pork ,tripe
and with side dishes of vegetables,(tomatoes,
aubergines and zucchini ).
